This Titans player isn’t doing himself any favors in a Contract Year

Every year of your NFL Career is valuable, but a contract year may be the most important season of a player’s career. Obtaining a contract extension is why many NFL players play the game they love today. Unfortunately, the pressure of a contract season can also make a player show that they aren’t worthy of the extension, and one Titans player is going through that life right now.

Kristian Fulton was drafted with the 61st pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. Fulton served as the top corner on the LSU Tigers 2019 championship-winning team and was an inaugural piece to one of the greatest college football teams ever. When Fulton arrived in Nashville, many believed he had the potential to be the CB1 of the future for Tennessee. Though he struggled with injuries in his first three seasons, Fulton showed flashes that he could take over that role. This year was supposed to be the season where Kristian puts it all together and earns a contract extension from GM Ran Carthon. Instead, Fulton has done everything to show that he doesn’t have a future in Nashville post-2023-24 season…

Through three games, Fulton has arguably been the worst player on the Titans’ defense, and it isn’t really close. In Week One, Fulton cost the Titans the game in the end when he got burned by Rashid Shaheed on a pivotal third down late in the ballgame. Fulton didn’t play in the Titans’ Week Two win over the Chargers but returned for their Week Three contest versus the Browns. In Cleveland, Fulton played one of the worst games he’s ever played, as he was burned constantly off the line and couldn’t do anything to stop Amari Cooper. Though watching Fulton has been horrendous, his numbers might be even worse. When targeted, Kristian Fulton has allowed a 118.7 passer rating and 87.5% completion percentage. Plus, he has given up 127 yards in two games of action. To say these numbers are bad is an understatement. Kristian Fulton is a flat-out liability right now, and he must figure it out soon if he wants to be a Titan in 2024…

The Titans 2020 Draft Class is one of the worst in NFL history, and if Fulton is gone after this season, it may go down as the worst. I’m hoping Kristian can figure it out because I was stoked when Jon Robinson picked him late in the second round, thinking we got an absolute steal. Injuries and inconsistent play are likely going to be the story of his Titans’ career…
